East Orange Celebrates the Election of
Next President Donald J. Trump by the Electoral College
Editorial by Jim Gerrish

12/19/16

For those who don't know how our system of government works, today was the real election day in the United States of America. This is how the election works according to Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution as shown below.

Article II

Section 1. The Executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The Congress may determine the Time of choosing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

Map of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election results: In red: 306 Trump electors from 30 states + ME (2nd CD). In blue: 232 Clinton electors from 19 states + ME and D.C.

For a history lesson in how all this came about, go HERE.

Today, 12/19/16, the Electoral College elected Donald J. Trump and Michael R. Pence to be the next President and Vice President of the United States. Despite all the whining and protests from those who sought to overturn the constitution, the constitutionalists won over the progressive socialists by constitutional means.

This is the list of electors who did not vote for the candidate that won their states.

The next event in the constitutional process will take place on January 6th, when Congress meets in joint session to count the electoral votes.

The last event is the Inauguration of President Trump and Vice President Pence when they take their oaths of office on January 20th in Washington, D.C.

After that, it is up to all of us to hold President Trump accountable for living up to the promises he made during his campaign for the presidency.

We congratulate our next President, and thank him for bringing back our constitutional right to say "Merry Christmas" in public once again.

East Orange Celebrates the Inauguration of
President Donald J. Trump by the People of the USA

01/20/17 Once again I decorate the only house in East Orange that actually celebrated the Inauguration of Donald J. Trump as our 45th President. The Inauguration was made even more special by the inclusion of the Talladega College Tornadoes Marching Band, because the East Orange Unified Marching Band was represented by Alumnus Shalal Adolphe who marched in the parade.
