Melinda Carney

Melinda Carney is running for
council representing the Third Ward on Kevin Taylor's Line E. Of
all the members of Kevin Taylor's "Team" she is the
weakest link. Her Facebook Page is used to show her photo and has nothing of substance
about what she will do for the Third Ward.
In a recent interview with Local Talk News, Carney mentioned that the biggest strength of the
Kevin Taylor Team was that most were business minded people. When
further asked what kind of business she ran, she responded that
she was a customer service representative and that she worked
with Cede Candy. It took me some research time to figure out that
she was talking about the Ce De Candy Company of Union. In 2011, the company changed its name to
Smarties Candy Company. I'm not sure how that qualifies her to
call herself a business minded person, or what workplace skills
she brings to the Council.
The other plans Carney mentions
in the interview are all general statements of outcomes with no
solutions given.
I sent Carney a copy of my Third
Ward Map of trouble areas, but heard
nothing from her about fixing any of those trouble spots.
It is mainly because of Melinda
Carney that I have felt compelled to advise all voters to VOTE
THE PERSON and NOT the LINE. Just because a Mayoral Candidate
puts together a "Team" does not mean you have to vote
for every member of that team. When you go into the voting booth,
close the curtain and vote for each person individually based on
your research and your study of what that person will do for you
as a voter in East Orange. If you find no one at all who can
represent you, you might even want to consider a write-in vote.
In the case of the Council, that person would have to live in
your ward. However, I have found someone whom I believe will be
the best candidate for Third Ward Council, so I will be jumping
from Line E to Line D to vote for Khalid Wright. To find out why,
you will have to read my opinion about him.
