Islamic
law requires a 2.5% tax called zakat, which is imposed on income
and accumulated wealth of all devout Muslims. Halal certification
is a service provided by Islamic organizations, the fee for which
goes to zakat charities. What you may not know is that there are
eight classes of zakat recipients, each of which gets a 1/8 share
of the gross. One of those classifications is "fighters in
Allah's cause," also known as Mujahideen - in other words,
terrorists.
From Reliance of
the Traveler, the Shari'ah Handbook
So when you purchase a product that is certified Halal, or eat at a restaurant that serves Halal food, you are indirectly contributing to terrorism against our country and against any non-muslim countries that are experiencing terrorism. You are also indirectly contributing to the cruel and inhumane slaughter practices of those animals who give up their meat.
Here in East Orange we saw the recent opening of a new restaurant that offers certified Halal food to the general public:
On
April 1st, 2016, the mayor of East Orange cut the ribbon to open
Coney Island II on Main Street
which "specializes in Halal Breakfast meats."
But there are also other local restaurants that serve Halal meats. If you are not in favor of contributing money to Islamic terrorists or encouraging the cruel slaughter of animals, you ought to know these places to avoid:
