1857
Alice Stone Blackwell is born. Some of her biographies state
that she was born in East Orange, while other state that she was
born in Orange. Since East Orange had not yet broken away
formally from Orange in 1857, we must conceed that she was,
indeed, born in Orange, but on the east side of it.
In any case, her family returned with her to Boston, MA in
1870, but we remember her for her work and actions as one of the
first American feminists.
