Council Woman Alicia Holman
Takes Over East Orange Record
2006-2013
For the first time since I've
been reading it, The East Orange Record has been
completely taken away from Essex County Executive Joseph N.
DiVincenzo, Jr. The issue dated Thursday, April 18, 2013 has not
one photo of the smiling DiVincenzo opening this public
attraction, or attending that awards luncheon, or standing behind
this or that celebrity.
Instead, the entire issue is
devoted to Council Woman Alicia Holman's press conference of
4/11/13 where she makes unsubstantiated claims of abuses in the
Police Department regarding "ticket quotas and harrassing
tactics being employed against crminals and law abiding
citizens." At no time does she offer evidence of her
statements, and when I say at no time, I really mean AT NO TIME,
since she was first elected to the council in 2006 to the present
day. She has two Facebook Pages on line which one would think
could have been used to at least mention one or more of these
incidents in all those years Facebook Page-1 Facebook Page-2. You check...maybe I missed something.
Even so, if I were about to make
accusations about the Police Department, I would stand out on the
street, take photographs and write down evidence of what I was
complaining about rather than repeat hearsay from anonymous
sources. Ms Holman says that this has nothing to do with
politics, just because she happens to be running for a third term
of office as council woman in the June 4th Primary. Let's examine
that a bit.
In 2010, all ten members of the
East Orange City Council, including Alicia Holman, backed Joseph
N. DiVincenzo, Jr. for re-election to a third terms as Essex
County Executive, a move that blocked Robert Bowser, Mayor of
East Orange, from dropping out of the mayor business and running
for the Essex County Executive position himself. This is called
politics. Source: PolitickerNJ

Now DiVincenzo, who practically
owns the East Orange Record and its on-line version the Essex
News as his own private media tool, has graciously allowed
this non-event to fill the pages of an entire issue months before
the June Primary. This is called payback.
Public noise:

I do not live in the Fifth Ward of East
Orange, and therefore cannot vote for or against Ms Holman in the
June Primary. I can only advise those that do live in the Fifth
Ward to look back at her record and vote on what she has done for
you and for the community, not just vote for her because you know
her name. I don't know of anyone else running for that position,
but there is always the write-in box. It might be time to see if
it still works.
