Holding Mayor Lester Taylor Accountable in 2015

This is what the Mayor HAS or HAS NOT done for us lately:

11/18/16

Today we discover that the mayor has amnesia about who "Prevented a Water Crisis" in East Orange. The way he tells it, he was the hero of that situation instead of the taxpayers and residents of East Orange. He will be spinning his tale at The National League of Cities’ City Summit and the American Water Summit on November 19th, 2016, in Pittsburgh, PA. Then he is going to do it again next month on December 7th, 2016, at a "Mayors Roundtable" (sic) in Miami, Florida, according to the announcement on the city Web site. He seems to have forgotten that he arbitrarily raised the cost of water to East Orange residents in order to pay off that 4 million dollar "shortfall" and we all continue to pay for the crime committed by the East Orange Water Commission with a higher rate for our water. In other words, we saved his butt and he is now going around telling everyone what a great manager he is. I am sure this will now be part of his speeches when he runs for mayor again in 2017. Make sure you raise your hand and remind him how much your water bill and property taxes have increased and ask him whether or not that had something to do with paying off the shortfall.

My Predictions About the mayor's
2016 State of Our City Speech
and what he DID NOT SAY.

1. The mayor will once again make no mention of the true number
of East Orange Residents murdered in 2015.

2. The mayor, once again, will not mention the increased level
of violence in East Orange Schools in 2014-2015.

3. The mayor will not be able to give an example of a single
abandoned property
that has been rennovated to the point
of bringing in tax dollars instead of spending taxes on mowing
and raking and making cosmetic changes.

4. The mayor will not mention the violations and charges against the
City Animal Shelter
* nor the false statements of Casim Gomez in an
attempted cover-up.

*The mayor did mention the violations and charges against the City Animal
Shelter, but with no specific information given.

5. The mayor will not mention the violations of City Code 238-4 by
all elected council members, nor the failure of City Code Enforcer
Dwight Saunders to issue tickets or summonses to any of them.

6. In spite of promises to provide a transcript of his speech for those of us
who were unable to attend, no transcript has yet appeared. I did not
predict this would happen, but based on past experience with this mayor
and his city hall appointees, I should have known better. I will make sure
to predict it next year.

Once again, although the total level of violence in the East Orange School District has gone down slightly, it STILL has the highest level of violence of all the schools in Essex County, including our crime-ridden neighbor Newark.

12/02/16 In his December Message to East Orange Residents, the mayor states that the crime rate has "decreased by 21% this year." The above chart gives the lie to that statement, showing that crime in East Orange has INCREASED by at least 3.8% (and the year isn't over yet).
